Teja serves as the Manager of Government Relations for the Government Relations department for Catalyst California. As a critical member of the Government Relations team, Teja supports the development and execution of Catalyst California’s statewide advocacy strategy.
Teja previously served as the California Legislative Black Caucus (CLBC) Consultant for two years. During her tenure with the CLBC, she staffed and supported member policy and budget priorities covering various areas, including reparations, higher education, social justice, civic engagement, and criminal justice reform. Before joining the Caucus as a permanent staffer, she worked as an intern in the office of former Assemblymember and now Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D., and the California Legislative Black Caucus in 2018.
Teja is a Florida native who has worked in the Capitol community since 2018. She attended Bethune Cookman University, a historically Black university in Daytona Beach, Florida, and received a B.A. in Political Science in 2017. Teja moved to Sacramento in 2018 to attend McGeorge School of Law, where she received her Master’s in Public Administration. In her free time, Teja enjoys watching the NBA, spending time with family, and volunteering in her community.
